SinaC's Square-1® Page

Advanced method overview

This is the method used by the World Record holder Lars Vandenbergh (http://www.cubezone.be/ or http://web.ulyssis.org/~lars/square1.php) to solve the Square-1®. It's almost the same as my intermediate method with steps 5 and 6 merged.

Step 0: Notations
This is a description of the notation used for square-1 algorithms
Step 1: Back to square form
A diagram showing all Square-1®shapes
Step 2: Bring the corners in their correct layer (5 algos)
It's a simple and intuitive step but each case is described and algorithms are provided
Step 3: Bring the edges in their correct layer (7 algos)
Only 7 short algorithms are needed to finish this step
Step 4: Permute the corners within their layer (8 algos)
No more than 8 short algorithms will be used to achieve this step
Step 5: Permute the edges within their layer (>30 algos)
The hardest step: more than 30 algorithms (without mirror and inverse) are used to permute the edges
Step 6: Flip middle layer and swap layers (3 algos)
These 3 short algoritms are used to flip middle layer and to swap layers

Top/bottom layer views have been generated using php script ImageSquare1 and ImageSquare1s
